Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, a British American artist and a sitarist, is most well-known for her songs. She is the youngest female and the first to receive the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter. She started learning to play the guitar at the age nine and played the sitar for the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi just four years after. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experiences appearing in Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as recording together with George Harrison. She was the first woman to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament to recognize her musical talent and artistic ability within music and the Asian Arts.
